The AGCC is an independent and non-political regulatory body that was established in May 2000. Its primary role is to regulate and supervise e-gambling on behalf of the States of Alderney, one of the British Channel Islands. The Commission consists of a Chairman and three members who ensure that the regulatory and supervisory approach of the AGCC meets the highest international standards.
Alderney, the third largest of the Channel Islands, is known for its robust finance industry and has positioned itself as an e-commerce center of excellence. It operates under its own government, legislature, and company laws, and adheres to the same modern banking, insurance, and investment laws as Guernsey, another Channel Island. The Guernsey Financial Services Commission is responsible for ensuring the well-regulated finance industry in both Guernsey and Alderney.
